May 27, 2008 by ajonestfyftgghPepon Osorio is a very well known artist who was born 1955 in, Santurce, Puerto Rico. In 1975 at the age of 20 he moved to New York where he worked as a school social worker and teacher. Pepon stayed in New York and later became an artist. The piece I am reflecting on is ”Home Visit” and I will be dicussing what I think it symbolizes and what each object represents.
Home visit was created in 1999 and has been inspiring people all around the world since then. I think it is suppose to and was created to tell a story about what its like for a family to have a house and then suddenly lose it all. This house explores so many ideas and meanings that each little piece has a significance. I think the white stuff represents the disaster that is occuring, and the fact that the door is opened and the people are outside really represents and shows the viewers that the people who lived there lost the house. The people are by the window which shows that the disaster called for some of them to have to climb out, and one of the people are laying down which shows that somone may have been physically hurt or killed during the attack. Because I don’t know I am just going to assume that the people on the roof are actual people that took part in a disaster like this and may have been the people who inspired Pepon to create such a piece.
In conclusion, I think Pepon Osorio’s creation “Home Visit” is a very memorable piece because it was based on real people who took place in real disasters.
What would you bring?
May 19, 2008 by ajonestfyftgghIf I had to evacuate my house, I would bring the things that are most precious to me and what makes me who I am. The first thing I would grab is my clothes because part of the reason I am who I am is my style and the way I dress. Its the only thing I have that makes me stand out and separates me from other people. The second thing I would bring is my report cards from previous school years. The reason I would bring report cards is because I will need them if I ever want to get into college. the third thing I would bring if my house was being evacuated is my flatirons mainly because I go nowhere without doing my hair; it just scares me. The fourth and last thing I would bring during house evacuation is my deoderant and tooth brush because i dont know how anyone could go out without using them. These things are the most precious to me because I never want to stink.

May 13, 2008 by ajonestfyftgghIn order to create different emotions using a camera , there are several things you can do without retouching on the computer or using props. The first thing you could do is take the picture in two different angles. The second thing you could do is take one picture with the flash on and one with the flash off. Another thing that would change the mood of a picture is to increase/decrease the shutter speed on one of the photos in motion therefore creating a very different atmosphere and mood from the other picture.

April 7, 2008 by ajonestfyftgghAnimators created a sence of movement by using an animation pad hooked up to the computer. They started by drawing the selecting the segment they wanted to move, then made another layer showing where they were gonna move the segment to. Next they combined the layers therefore animating the segment as real movement. I think they decided to use animation instead of filming real people first of all, to get people especially young people more enterested in what the statement of the film is. Second of all, I think they used the animation to prove a point that eventhough it is in cartoon form, they can still get their point across to not just adults but comedy wise to kids too.
